December 16th 2004 the Netherlands’ musical pride, the Gathering, auctioned 20 unique enlarged photos on eBay with the most successful result! This auction is a part of the Gathering’s support to War Child Netherlands.

These pictures come from the photo-exhibition of Dutch press photographer Peter Blok [winner of the World Press Photo Award 1989 and fifteen prizes for the Silver Camera between 1988 and 2002]. Peter Blok has been capturing the Gathering on photo for several years now. During the 15th anniversary tour of the band last October the Gathering held an exhibition with photo’s by Peter Blok traveling along to all venues through the Netherlands. This exhibition contained 20 uniquely enlarged examples of Peter Blok’s most beautiful, special and astounding pictures throughout the years. In an open-handed mood for their anniversary the band wanted to organize a give-away action for the fans and an auction to support War Child. Peter Blok donated his photos for this auction without any benefit. The band and the photographer find it very important that children in poor countries and difficult situations should have the chance to develop their talent. War Child uses music and other kinds of creative workshops to help children in a war-situation to deal with their painful memories. Beside the photo auction there’s still an action running with luxurious photo cards from the Peter Blok photo collection.

Thanks to the auction the counter for War Child has already hit 5.000 euros!
After all costs for production were settled the twenty pictures still saved over 5.000 euros to donate to War Child! One of the photo’s brought in more than 1.000 euros! Gathering fans from out of several different countries have participated in this auction. The pictures, signed by all band members and Peter Blok, will be sent to their proud winners in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Denmark and even in Chile.

Whoever wants to support the Gathering in their actions even more can still order the luxurious photo card set. One set of cards costs 5 euros and contains ten big pictures and two cards with an overview of the Peter Blok the Gathering collection. From each sold set two euros are donated to War Child.
